To my dear wife's son, who I have always believed to be esteemed and loved as my own son and is known by the name of Joseph Gittens - 300 pounds to be paid 3 months after my decease. All of the rest and residue of my estate whether real or personal of every nature and quality to my dear and well beloved wife Mary Gittens. After her decease I bequeath a negro girl named Quasheba to my said wife's son named John Jackson and his heirs forever and all the rest of my estate. At the death of my wife I give devise and bequeath the same and every parcel thereof unto my wife's son named Joseph Gittens. In the case that Joseph Gittens dies before his mother - the wife Mary is authorized to dispose the estate with at least ΒΌ going to John's mother. To godson John Keene the son of Richard Keene at age 21 the sum of 28 pounds to buy him a negro wench Executrix Wife Mary Gittens aided and assisted by Samuelo Robertson and Mr. John Beale and at her death to settle any affairs.
