Baptisms Saint Philip
July 12 1727 - _____ dau of Isaac Gittens
Notes:
There is a baptism record for a female Gittens dated Jul 12 1728 in the Parish of Saint Philip, Barbados, daughter of Isaac Gittens.
Isaac Gittens the son of Robert Gittens and Ann Chapman was identified in the 1715 Census. There is no existing baptism record for Isaac and his birth year is calcualted as 1702 from the census.
I am making an assumption, until better information is obtained, that this Isaac is the father of the female gittens baptised July 12 1728.
Further, the Bonyun family tree reports a marriage between Martha Gittens and Will Bunian in Barbados in 1742. There is no source noted for this fact. My database does not have a Martha Gittens, a spinster, who would have been of marrying age in 1742. The database does show an unnamed female Gittens baptised July 12 1728 and the assumption is being made that this unnamed female Gittens is the Martha Gittens who married Will Bunion.
The Bonyun Family tree does reference the will of Martha Bonyun dated Feb 24 1745. But I was not able to find a copy of the will in the English Settlers in Barbados CD. |
