      To whom it may concern:
      This is to certify that I know the Bearer, Mr. John Alexander Johnson, for the past twenty-five years. I have much pleasure in stating that during that time he has always conducted himself in an upright, orderly and honourable manner, and has been thoroughly honest and straight in his dealings. He is looked upon by those who are acquainted with him as a worthy and desirable citizen. He intends visiting Finland and after spending some time there, will return to Port Arthur. Mr. Johnson is accompanied by his wife and three children.
